I'm an ex-Marine who doesn't think John Kerry is a coward. I don't know what most current Marines think, but I doubt that the one you talked to does either. He might have an impression based on a few conversations he's had, but I'm almost certain that his opinion isn't based on any kind of statistically valid poll.
Also, the statement "Anyone who takes a movie camera to war ..." is flawed. It's a non sequitur (conclusion doesn't follow from the premise). Taking a camera to war is consistent with being interested in self promotion, but it's very weak circumstantial evidence at best. Many people take cameras to war in order to record what they see; not for self promotion. Also, who says that you can't be interested in fighting and self promotion at the same time?
PS: Knowing what most Marines are like, I doubt that many of them even have an opinion on John Kerry.

Well let's jump into a Time Machine and take your Marine friend back to the war in Viet Nam so he can stand toe to toe with John Kerry and call him "coward" then.
Kerry WENT to war. He fought. And he didn't get his political success by sucking up to Daddy's friends, or bravely opening fire on the unarmed olives in his martinis.
And by the way...alot of Viet Nam vets took cameras with them.
To record every last Godawful moment they spent there.

Call your friend back quickly and tell him you had a relevation. It involved a visit from the ghost of Christmas pasts.
In one visit, you were taken to Bush snorting cocaine in his just pressed and most favorite cheerleading outfit.
And in another visit, you saw Kerry actually in Viet Nam.
And there is the major distinction my man. Say what you will, or what your supposed friend will, if you weren't there (and George and Ann Coulter and Bill O'Reilly, and dicked Cheney and even his voluptious wife Lynned weren't there). So until you have lived a living hell, please don't stand behind an alleged friend's observations that say that someone who was there is a coward.

What's their opinion of George Bush, you will note that Kerry actually went to war and ISNT commanding our troops. Bush on the other hand didn't go to war and IS sending them to mortal danger.
