Pirates isn't based on a book, its based on a ride at walt disney world in florida. i heard they even re-did the ride and added jack, will and elizabeth to it. i thought it was a book too, i couldn't understand why you'd make a movie out of a ride!!

Pirates of the Carribean is based on a ride in Disneyworld. The ride in Disney world is based on Pirates- who were in the carribean.

It is based on the ride in Disneyland. Everyone thought that the movie was going to flop since is was based on a ride and since it was a pirate movie, which hasn't worked for years. But, boy, were they wrong!

No ride of the same name at Disneyland. Walt Disney died just before it's completion in1976. What a great man and how much he loved the world and children!!!

No it is based off of the Disney ride, but the redid the ride to match the movie.
