I am 21 and my cousins and friends said I am too old? I never have before, but they all do. I have wanted to play since I was a child, but was never allowed too. I do however play soccer on our universities on campus sport, and I was told by friends there that I was pretty good, but I think they may have only told me that because of my Italian background. I have already asked a team, and they are gonna see how I do at training, but I am worried that they too will think I am too old to start, especially as the team manager was hesitent to allowing me to even come to try out after finding out my age.

you never know until u try. i am 20. i thought my soccer sucked and that i was too old to play in the pro leagues when i was 18. i stopped playing then.

but that was dumb. now at 20, i play for my uni and will definitely go for my club soccer trials which is next month.

u shldnt worry as there are a lot of players - Robben etc who started out late. and if u just see intl soccer, players like Cafu, Sorin are all 30+ and they still play really good soccer. You have many years of lively and wonderful soccer ahead of u.

You're never to old. Actually, at 21, you're not even old. Soccer is the greatest sport in the world. If you want to play it, do it. Besides, if you don't start now, you'll just keep getting older and still not be able to play. What if when you're thirty you still haven't played soccer? Then you'll feel REALLY old and be less likely to play. Give it your best. I wish you luck with your new soccer journey. Hope you make the team!

By the way: you're Italian? I was totally rooting for Italy in the World Cup. Yeah, Italia!!!!!!!!!

No, so what if they think you are too old. 21 is still young in my book, I think if you want to play soccer, go for it. Who cares about your cousins/friends.

youre too old to become a pro...but youre never too old to learn. as long as you enjoy the sport, who cares what your age is?? my dad played soccer up until he was 48 years old.
