If President Bush was assassinated, how would the American people react?

How would the rest of the world respond?

(To all those who have an idea of such a disaster, I will be praying for you. Those who decide to do such a thing, I am not responsible for your actions, nor will I accept any blame or charge against me, as this is clearly a QUESTION!!)

Let's just say in this world of conflict between the political parties and conflict created by Bush in areas such as Iraq the general reaction would not be the same emotional outpouring that JFK received, or the death of FDR or the shooting of Reagan. I would imagine there would be widespread apathy towards Bush himself and extreme worry nationwide for what was coming next. There would definitley be far more concern for our future than Bush's death. Then we would get to hear FOX and the Republicans carry on about the horrifying reaction of all those liberal dems out there that are "godless" and "hate the United States" and soon everything would be back to normal: enough hate to go around.

MrBeenthere:

I disagree with what you say. Look closely at the resultant path of the nation following the assassination of Lincoln. The reconstruction period would have been 180 degrees in the opposite direction had Lincoln lived. As it was, those who wanted to punish the south took control and put a foot on the throat of the southern states that reflects in the disparity economically you see to this day.

I think if President Bush was assassinated, the American people would find some way to blame him for it. I really can't answer how the rest of the world would react though.

I believe that both the person who did the murder and the organization that sponsored him will get results that are contrary to what they hoped to achieve.

The people of America have a "thing" about hurting their President. They may call him names, accuse him of stupidity, write nasty notes about him and tell weird jokes about him BUT that's the American, and he will not tolerate anyone doing harm to his President. They will get behind the issue or program that he had presented and will support it all the way.

Look at American history.
