Honda Pilot, I dont know what the Ford explorer is like but I have a Pilot and it rides very smoothly and it's great in snow! Go for the Honda!

Ford Explorer is a real truck. What truck do know has front struts? You can't go off roading in a Pilot, and the pilot's not a real 4WD truck. Just like Ford's slogan says, "Ford Built Tough." The Pilot is a toy compared to any SUV's or 4 WD trucks. And the Pilot's transmissions suck.
10 yrs. auto tech cerified Acura tech 2 yrs.
Oh, if money was no object, I'd get the Explorer Sport-trac.

Both are good vehicles. My husband drives a Ford, I drive a Honda. I had an opportunity to drive a Ford Explorer for the summer last year and loved the roominess, handling, and the power. It wasn't as gas friendly as a Honda perhaps but still a good car. What do you want to do with it? They are both good on the beach, or in the snow. Flip a coin! Good luck!

If money is truly "no object" then forget the Ford entirely... think about the Pilot, but go out and get yourself the Acura MDX.
Honda is, by far, the more reliable manufacturer out there and Acura is Honda. The more elite Hondas Stateside get the Acura moniker but they are Hondas just the same. You won't go wrong with the MDX and it makes American SUVs shiver.
You won't be sorry with this recommendation!

The Cleveland Plain Dealer did a side by side this Sunday and choose the Honda. So would I. I have owned several Hondas and have always found them to be good quality cars. My father owned several Fords, and they were never very good. In fact he stopped buying them. I still drive Hondas.

First of all you are comparing apples against beets. But for the sake of argument it would depend on what part of the country I live in,If I lived anywhere that got snow or winter like weather then I would take the explorer but if I lived in a part of the country that only had warm weather with the worst weather being rain then I would pick the pilot.
