The Runes Of The Earth - The Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant. By Stephen Donaldson
Though to understand it you would have to have read the first 6 books which was the first two chronicles.
Definitely a read before you die set of books, a fantastic read, beats Lord of the Rings hands down, and I love Tolkien.

The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer. Ahh required summer reading. I thought it started off a little slow at the beginning, but it gets better.

David Copperfield by Charles Dickens. It's a classic that I think that everyone should read. It is a very engaging read and you fly through the 800 pages.
