No one knows for sure, but there are several theories.
Theory #1: They are absorbed into the black hole and can never leave (black holes have so much gravity that nothing that gets near can escape)
Theory #2: They travel to a different time (modern physicists claim that time is simply another variable dimension and that it is created by gravity (time has been proven to go slower in regions of lower gravity, such as space))
Theory #3: They enter a new dimension (Steven Hawking claims that there are actually many more dimensions embedded within our own, and that a black hole may act as a portal to these)

In short, we do not know.
The limit of our knowledge ends at the black hole's event horizon...anything beyond this is (for all intensive purposes) lost to the universe forever.
One an object, and with it, information about the object, crosses the event horizon, we can no longer observe it.
Since nothing can travel faster than light (and that includes light), we don’t know what happens after this point.
However, as the object approaches the event horizon, it begins to stretch out due to the tidal forces acting on the object (different in the gravitational acceleration between the "top" and "bottom" end of the object).
So as the object approaches, it is stretched out into, eventually, an infinitely thin string and then (we speculate) crushed into a point [singularity] after passing the black hole.
Also, as the object approaches the black hole, time becomes more and more dilated for the object as seen from the outside observer. The object appears to slow down.
Actually, we can never "See" an object cross the event horizon since it would take an infinite amount of time for the light which is emitted at that point to reach us, we only see it get closer and closer, we just assume that it does eventually cross.

Let's just imagine what would happen to you if you decided to launch yourself, into a black hole from an orbiting spacecraft...
The first thing that would happen is, when you get close enough to feel its gravitational effects, you would feel the side of your body that faces the black hole to be stretching out towards it. It would have to be a very strange sensation. As you approach closer to it, this effect would become more and more obvious, until someone watching you fall into it would see your body being stretched out like a rubber band.
Closer still, and the difference in force from the side of your body that faces it to the side that is away would literally rip you apart
It would begin as flesh tearing away from your body in chucks, then these chunks would be further broken down into smaller particles, and so on, and so on.
These parts of your body, now reduced to molecules, would speed up and be compressed together, more and more, as they continue into the black hole. This would make the molecules hot, and they would produce light, and possibly x-rays.
Closer still, and the molecules would be ripped apart, so now there would be only atoms. These atoms of what used to be your body would now be traveling at close to the speed of light and just before they reach the event horizon, would probably produce impressive explosions as even the atoms will be ripped apart, releasing huge amounts of energy.
An event horizon is that area around a black hole which, if an object passes through it, it can never escape. It is much like that portion of space around the earth where if an object in space passes just far enough away, it can still continue, but if it is just a little bit closer, it will be captured by earth's gravity and is doomed to impact somewhere on the surface.
The actual core of a black hole is much smaller than the event horizon, just as the "event horizon" of earth is far above the ground we walk on.
What happens after you pass the event horizon is pretty much unknown, because all known laws of physics break down after that. It is theorized that time would come to a stop for anything or anyone that passes through the event horizon. This doesn't mean, however, that you would be in a kind of suspended animation, because you would be dead and ripped apart on the subatomic level far before you reached this point.

They obviously get pulled in and compressed. I'm not sure about the singularity thing people claim, that doesn't make much sense yet. I believe black holes slowly radiate and eventually become no longer a black hole, just scattered particles. Even black holes follow the law of entropy. This takes a long time to happen and the smaller the black hole the faster it radiates.

Singularity.
At the center of a black hole lies the singularity, where matter is crushed to infinite density, the pull of gravity is infinitely strong, and spacetime has infinite curvature. Here it's no longer meaningful to speak of space and time, much less spacetime. Jumbled up at the singularity, space and time cease to exist as we know them.
