I am a guy and I think most women appear healthier than men with the exception of the heavy drinkers and smokers.

Hmmm. Well, after a life of caring for a family for some at home, WHILE working, giving birth to one to several children, and then again working, caring for a family...I am not sure why some woman do not appear PHYSICALLY as healthy. But I can say that their bodies go through more monthly hormonal changes and some of us take hormones (oral contraceptives, or hormone replacement or bone density meds or etc), and others are pregnant and this can affect how "healthy" your body appears as well, as it can make your body retain water.
But, in answer to that question, to understand why appearance are so deceiving: think about this: A woman's body has areas that naturally are supposed to be curvy (or fatty if you are a person who feels like having a shape is not a good thing on a woman) if that is not "healthy" or if some appear a bit "too curvy" on some of us then maybe these women are trying to what little confidence in themselves they have left since they cannot control things like medication, genetics/body type, and not having the willpower or time to dedicate to a workout regimen that Might help them.

1 could be lack of exercise, a well defined muscular body looks healthy!
2 could be skin complexion, tan body's look healthy!

If we're not as healthy as men, please explain why, on average, we live longer? :) Sounds to me like maybe we're a little bit healthier than our counterparts.
