Nothing is cheap in Vegas. We just went there for our honeymoon. I suggest you get your tickets at a travel agent. Stay in a motel on the main strip so you can walk. Meals in most resteraunts are ala cart (freekin rip off). My mother in law bought me a book at Barnes and Noble by DK publishers about Las Vegas. It was very helpful- It has the most expensive and the cheapest things all listed from motels to food to shows etc and also has all free stuff. I would go to Freemont St that was awesome!! We went to Lasvegas.com for info also. You will still spend a lot of money!

Having a lot of people go with you to share the cost of the room helps to save some money. What I do to find the cheapest airlines is I go to websites such as cheaptickets.com or other similiar sites and I use it as a guide only to find which airlines is selling cheaper. Using these websites will cost you about an extra 10 dollars if you buy through them but again use it as a guide and then go to the actual airline website. Also airline websites do a lot of las vegas deals some may even include hotels. You have to do a lot of homework and compare prices. Gas prices are high so it will affect the airline prices too.
I find my hotels in a simliar fashion and go to hotels.com or a website similiar and use it as a guide also. Then I go to the actual website for the hotel and look for deals. If this is your first time going to vegas I highly suggest to try and find a nice hotel on the las vegas strip only because you don't want to rip yourself off from the vegas experience. I have had many friends regret staying at a dump of a motel for their first time. As for food their is cheap food their like McDonalds. Some places if you look around you can find steak and eggs for like 5 bucks. If you want to save money on drinks, dont buy from the bar just start gambling even on the slots and your drinks are free, just pay a tip.
Good luck and have fun.
