how is a civil engineer related to science?

They use math and physics in their planning. Mainly to make bridges that won't fall, and they use chemistry in figuring out what are the best building materials for certain purposes (that is, a knowledge of chemistry is good). Such sciences are required in order for the civil engineer to structures that will stand, and survive the elements.
