If the fish stop eating, don't act normal, or lose color. A great fish to have in your tank is a rummy nose. When the water is bad the fish lose their red nose. If you think that the fish are goin to die then take out half the water and put new. Also clean yourg filter. Try live plants not plastic, and NO colored rocks. The color comes off the rocks and makes the fish get sick. Make sure that the water temp is not too high or too low. Good Luck!

Number one: If u havent clean the tank and u r using tap water with out a filter.
Number two: when u over feed it.
Number three: When u c it stay at the bottom of the tank and barely swimming.
Those r thing u should know that it will soon die.

first thing is first, do a water change , use RO water preferrably. it would help if its water quality. second, your fish show signs early so you need to watch them closer next time , if yur fish die. but anyways. fish will start to swim sideways or very lethargicly, they will also start to not eat. or stay in one spot for long periods of time. they also start to breathe heavily or rapidly. also look at their gills, they may some type of sickness. if they look like they have cotton like spots on them it could be ick, or if they have what looks like a milky film over them it could be velvet, either way its not good. if by chance they make it. aquarium salt can help prevent this. but anyways , i think that you could prevent this by doing regular water tests.

well you shouldn't be wanting them to die in the first place, but if there is alot of algea and fungus in the tank, then you should clean it!!!! Fungus and algea are bad for fish.
Fish don't generally give of 'signals' about dying unless they have fin rot or something like that.
I would say clean the tank good and feed them...see what happens from there.

Use the internet to look up fish care, fish tank care, etc.... if you see something odd developing.
