I thought that overwatering does that, but I am definitely not overwatering them. They dry out inbetween waterings. The plants are also sparse and not getting nice and full and bushy like they usually do. They keep blooming but the leaves and stems are scraggly. They are pretty much in the shade as far as I can tell.

I grow impatiens every single year. They require lots of water if in a pot. If they are straight in the ground, dampen the ground every morning. The yellowing is probably being caused by too little water or by wrong watering time. Early morning is best. GL

Have you fertilize them with miracle grow. Don`t feed them too much othe m grow and they could be lacking potassium. I had some one year that didn~t do good neither so i took them back to home depot and they returned my money. That`s one thing good about home depot. I could be a bad batch or maybe your soil. Did you add some new potting soil in your flower bed.

You might have spider mites which suck the chlorophyll out of the leaves making them turn yellow and eventually killing the plant. Keep a close eye on near by plants because they will move from plant to plant.

Impatients grow well in shade only and if in hot sun that will burn them up no matter how you water them. They cant tolerate much water just enough to dampen them so if you have them in sun that may be the problem as again they are shade plants. They are my favorite flower and I have them every where that I have a shade spot.

if you are in the north you should be able to get away with them in a little more sun... try putting them in a spot where they can get morning sun... then pinch back the stems... it will bush out instead of keep growing up... i would go with more light if you know your not overwatering them... which down here in GA is hard to do...
