It's all dependent on the contract you sign when you publish the poem. You might not recieve royalties at all, but you could get a flat payment. Or nothing at all! Just depends on what is offered/what you negotiate. If you give up your copyright for a flat fee you should recieve more $$ than if you retain the copyright yourself.

My guess would be if you only have one poem in a book you will get a flat payment, no royalties.

Although I have written hundreds of poems in my life, I have never tried to have one published or even thought about doing so. I wish I knew the answer. I have enough to fill a book of my own.......
