Ask Peyyton Manning! He tries his best to pull off the fakes that McMahon did. Peyton is to da Bears' 1985 signal calling QB,Jim McMahon, what Kobe is to Jordan. It's no big secret, McMahon was Mr. Play-action pass. This guy ran more play action pass than anyone I've ever seen. I believe that Manning took a lot from McMahon and a bit of Elway and made himself into the player that he is. Manning barks out a plethora of different signals and redirects, and, while it isn't always pure play action it's as close as you can get to it w/o actually doing it. McMahon was drafted in 1982 out of BYU. There have been several standout top-notch passers to go to BYU, and, the answer to your question was the one who had 71 NCAA records when he left.
