You should think customers are always right. They are the ones who is spending the cash and if you don't satisfy them, they can go to other places. Competition is so intense. If the customers is not reasoning with you, then there is no point of keeping that person from coming back. Most people are good though, if they are happy, they will come back often.

No. I think the customer is not always right. But it's always best to make sure before you argue with them.

I worked in a dept. store and sometimes they would say "oh this was supposed to be on sale"....instead of saying "well its not sorry" it's better to go check, because maybe the price didn't change right or the wrong sign is up.

But sometimes the customers are making stuff up in hopes of getting a discount...."oh the sign was there a minute ago"...usually the lame managers would make me give them the discount.

I hated that job lol

No one is right all the time. However, your operating principle does need to center on the customer. And, for your purposes the customer is always right. Every successful business owner makes decisions based upon the perception of what customers want. To be successful, you have to offer the right products, at the right prices and offer merchandise when and where customers want it.

I am a hairstylist. In my business you learn when to tell the customer they are wrong.I can't in good faith give a perm to someone who has over processed hair. If I did that, they could sue me for all I was worth.I also think that one has to have diplomacy when telling them they are wrong. If you can do this, the customer will respect your point of view and know you care about them. They may even think it is their idea if you do it right. So I guess my answer is no, the customer is not always right.

They may not always be right but they are the customers. As difficult as it often is they must be dealt with honestly and respectfully. My experience in retail is that a satisfied customer generally keeps it to himself. A dissatisfied customer tells everyone.

Yes to some extent the customer is always right. That does not mean we can always give them the product or service they want but they are always right about what they want or desire to have happen. Bottom line their money pays my check. I am in sales and have to make many accommodations to clients to make sure they have the product that fits best for them.

Even when their wrong, the customer is always right. That is just the way it is if you want to keep their business. I've worked with the public all of my life.

in retail we are taught not to argue with a customer, for return business. if a customer thinks he/she is right then, you are not going to change their mind no matter how much proof you have, and if you can prove them wrong then they feel belittled...either way they probably wont want to return to your market place. is it worth the money to argue a point... how ever big or little, this one time.
and no i don't think they are always right but, if i feel that strongly, then it is best to get a manager to discuss it with the customer, they are supposed to be trained enough to know how to handle these customers.

well,,if the customer is always right,,,what stops them from changing the price tags on merchandise, bringing it to you and saying "I found it like this" I worked with the public in retail for over 20 years...we'd all be out of business if the customer was always right...the customer is out for themselves.. and some are just plain stupid!!!!
