He was awarded a $5 million contract by an arbitrator today. That is roughly the same that the Devils pay Martin Brodeur. In my opinion this guy deserves half that much. I'd be happy if no team in the league signed him, because $5 mil is wayyy overpaying this lazy bum. He shows little leadership, emotion, or drive while on the ice. Cut him Devils!..

Will he sign anywhere??

He's a lazy bum? What does that make Toadtuzzi?
Gomez has had some excellent seasons. Fifty or more assists in 3 of 6 seasons (another had 49), hardly misses a game (least he has played is 76), had 15 pts in 14 GP in playoffs past two seasons, Mogilny had his best year of late and ditto Elias when Gomez was his center. Certainly has more Cups than Markus Wimplund or Trevor Wimpden.

I'd welcome him on the Nux but having said that Morrison is virtually the same player with less statistical or playoff results.

Anyway, I highly doubt the Devils will cut him and I think you underestimate the guy a lot. When I've watched him play he skates well, passes pretty danged good and he's only 26. He's going to get even better over the next ten years.

Gomez can and does produce (33 goals, 84 points last season) and he's still an integral part of the Devils' playoff arsenal. Not everyone has to be a leader or an inspiration: some guys are just there to churn the points, and he can do that well.

But... does he deserve 5 mil? Hell no.

If the Devils called Jeff Friesen overpaid and got rid of him, I can't imagine they'd keep Gomez.

Langenbrunner is a much better deal. Gomez? They'll lose him.

Lou Lamoriello is going to accept the arbitrators' offer at 5M$ and sign him to a one year contract then, expect a trade sending him to a lowly team like Columbus that will stay at the bottom of the standings.

the unhappy aspect changed into, i imagine the Devils performed their perfect sport of the season that evening. quickly paced, quite some high quality photographs...only 3 of them hit the positioned up and the refs made some especially undesirable calls that delivered about objectives. Marty had a second of indecision and did not conceal a %. that changed into 3 inches in the front of him (delivered about the Avery purpose), and the finest purpose changed into an empty information superhighway. The Devils ought to play precisely like they did that sport (Marty has to cover the darn %.!!), except no more effective posts!! Hit the internet! also, Brian Gionta had large possibilities, yet ignored the internet! positioned THE %. ON information superhighway! otherwise, if the Devils keep playing like they did the first sport, they can definately take the sequence. in the adventure that they retain letting in fluke objectives and lacking the internet, then Rangers will win it easy.

Welp, if they cut him, they have to pay his salary anyways if it is guaranteed. If it is not guaranteed (like T.O.'s salary with the Eagles), then they can cut him any time.

There is no way he is worth as much as one of the top Goaltenders in hockey though, and I think if another team has to pick up that salary in order to grab him, nobody will do so.

Maybe he could play for my local AHL team. He would be right at home here in Wichita Kansas.
