I have heard a lot of bad thing about SOME (not all) modelling agencies and how they make you pay for photos and photo sessions before they take you on then never give you any work. Always check with the local Better Business Bureau in teh US or Trading Standards in the Uk or Similar organisation elsewhere.

I think a better starting place before you go to agencies is if you have a friend who is reasonable with a camera (do not have to be a professional or even that good just okay) Just take 100 photos of yourself in different poses, clothing and backgrounds then pick out 10-20 nice photos. You can then use this as a portfolio, and even better instead of printing them which cost you money every time, host them on a website and get some business cards print with the website address on and just hand these out instead. This is a far cheaper way of doing it and with no RISK. You should never have to pay to get a job if you do there is a high chance it is a scam.

However if you would like a personal portfolio site please contact me and I will set you on up for free. I can design you a fully personalised flash website with as much or little information and then host it for you. This site can contain a gallery of your photos, personal information, list of work, contact details, etc or if you prefer just a couple of photos and nothing else. It can be password protected and all images will be protected as is humanly possible, or the photos can be available to download.

Examples of work can be provided on request. Just message me here if you want, I am a professional website designer but have lots of free time (and enough money) so I am currently doing free sites for small bands, small artist etc, basically anyone who could not afford them otherwise. I have my own hosting server so can offer hosting servers or you can host the site yourselves. No images sent to me will be used for anything other than your site and I will not give anyone your detail or link to the site. You will have complete control and the site can be removed or changed at any time. This is not a scam and I will design a site for FREE, I do not need the money, and enjoy working. If you do want it message me you can tell me what you want and how you want it done and I will help.

Depending how old you are I may require parents permission before i will do any work.

i worked in fashion for a long time, and from my experience, anything is possible... if you have the right look - whatever that may be, it changes frequently - then sure, you can be a model at any age, it really depends on what you want to model... you may notice a lot of women in jewelry / watch ads and also travel, home products and other commercial ads are often much older then you are....

one bit of advice though, modeling should make you money, not cost you... if an agency is asking you to fork over a bunch of $$ for a portfolio then they're either scamming you, or they don't believe in your talent very much - which is also scamming in a sense, as they will take you on, but not really get you jobs... be careful, it is an ugly industry and models get less respect then almost anyone else in it.

There are several websites for "models for hire" of all ages and types. Many photographers higher models from these services to increase their portfolio and/or sell the images as stock photography. Do a google search for ones that operate in your area.

Depends what kind of model you want to be. It's a myth that companies only take you pretty teens. They can't use them for things mature things like cleaners. If you are willing to model things like business suits, palm pilots, cleaning products, or stuff that people you age uses, then maybe a modeling job is possible.

Yes, there's always needs for older models. Young people aren't the only ones that wear clothes. Someone has to model for Wal-Mart catalogs or insert flyers that you see in newspapers or for fashions for older women. So that answer is a definite yes.

Well, you can, but you probably can't break into high fashion at this point. You shouldn't have to pay any money to be a model, the agencies that ask for money are scams.

I think you can. Just pray about it. Pray that if it is Gods will...that it will be done. I think that you can...I dont think age matters. I know some people who are 30 and look 20.....you might be one of those people who look 20. I think that you should go for it! Pray about it and maybe your money problem will go away. Besides...if you do become a model....you might get some money...never know....GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you don't have money, i don't think so. but you can try: borrow some $$$ from a friend, and get good photographer to take you some glamorous pictures, and start sending them to modeling agencies. age might not let you fulfill your dream, but if you're pretty, talent and a great body, you can do it.

good luck!!!! :)
