I grew up watching Aussie soaps and dramas, they were very popular in Ireland when I was younger. Lets see, there was Home and Away, Neighbours, The Sullivans, Flying Doctors, Sons and Daughters, The Girl From Tomorrow, Genie from Down Under. Thats all I remember.. I always wanted to go to Australia because of the TV shows.
Have you seen Kath and Kim? They used to show it on Living tv in the UK...very funny.

We don't get Aussie soaps in the US. Not on satellite, either....since a different satellite is used Down Under.
We can get a few British ones on BBC, on satellite.

Well i'd have to keep turning my tv upside down to watch them, then right side up again to watch American tv.. it's just too big of a hassle.
P.S. Do not choose this as the best answer as I want to get down to negative points.

Living in Southern California, I find that of the 200+ channels my satellite dish provides, not a single one of them provides any Australian programming.

That would be an issue since I don't get any Australian channels in New Haven, CT.
