Our lawnmower died, we're looking to get a new one. What's the best brand/model and what store to purchase from?

Popular Mechanics did a report two years ago and they recommended the Toro Personal Pace mower. Been using one now for two years in Florida on St. Augustine turf and it does a great job.

If you do you own maintenance, like changing the oil and sharpening the blade Make sure the dealer does not tighten the blade nut with a air wrench as it will take an air wrench to loosen it back off.

The best brand for a lawnmower is the Craftsman as anything made by them lasts ten times longer than any other brands.I buy all my yard equipment ,tools whatever I need in that line in Craftsman I wont buy anything else and Craftman items usually always have a warranty that comes with whatever you buy.Good Luck in buying a new lawn mower.I find Sears Roebuck to be the best place to shop for such items.

You basically get what you pay for.
Like a $100. push mower may last two seasons. If I get one full season out of one? I figure I got my money's worth.
The ZTR riders that cost $3500. to $6000. Are way over priced. At that price they better be able to mow the lawn without me on it and fix me supper afterwards.
I have a Snapper rider. It cost me last year $900. new. It's almost identical to the one I had for 20 years. They are easy to maintain and very reliable.

I'd go toro, if you can still find murrays, they are good....... I've had my little 20 incher for the last 6 years problem free (well ignition coil failed on me) and the 3.5 briggs is going like clockwork.... and she's cut alot of grass, 4 hours 1-2 times a week straight.

Sears are ok, made by electrolux...... which is ok quality..... I also own one of those and its been problem free as well..... they have they're own fix it or replace it warranty.
