it depends. if you have a 12oz tank or higher then you just unscrew it. if you have a quick change you unscrew it (usually a cap at the bottom of the handle) and remove the small co2 tank.

I dont believe it really matters? I have had several paintball guns. I have had the cheap Wal-Mart brand "Tigershark" to the $199.00 spyder elite. All the ones that i have had i would just unscrew it from the nipple. Even when you have the duel tank back pack it was the same way. I dont believe there is any wrong way. If you are using one of those single shot deals you must first release all of the Co2 from it before pulling it out, but any other gun it doesnt really matter. They are made the same way that a Lp grill bottle is made, it has an emergency cut off ball inside of the nipple, if there is air inside it wont come out

Un screw it 3/4 of the way. Then, shoot a few times. If nothing happens, keep slowly unscrewing until the hammer on your gun doesn't come back. Then you can take the tank the rest of the way off without losing as much air.

twist it off. itll feel like its stuck, but you have to try hard.

and when you do, its going to sound like something blew up or something, thats just the air escaping from your gun
