It's been said that writer's block is the result of believing that what you are writing isn't good enough. Your mind is searching for the words to write, but it never seems to come up with what you believe is going to be acceptable writing. You've probably written something very good recently, and now you want to keep that same standard. A new high standard can cause some stress and tension. Outside problems can cause writer's block as well.
The best thing you can do is relax and stop worrying about it. Get away from writing by taking a walk, exercising, going shopping, or anything that will get you involved. These things will help you blow off some steam and relieve some stress. This can help you to stop taking your writing so seriously. Remind yourself that you can write well, and the words will come when you're ready.

Writer's Block is one tricky little bastard. The way I look at it, is there must be a reason behind it. Be it mental exhaustion, physical exhaustion, laziness, procrasination, or simply whatever your writing is challenging and requires a great deal of thought, so there could be many reasons for writers block. I think a good writer or not so much a good writer but a person who can really focus, explores the reasons behind the block and tries to solve it. Many times we just like to distract ourselves because its easier, so to answer your question ask yourse'l what's keeping me from writing?

Try a different environment. A different chair, different room, town, city , or country. Maybe you need some inspiration. It depends what you are writing about. If it is creative and you are writing about Italy, go to the Italian neighborhood, or restaurant. Dreams are a good source, but how long can you wait for an answer if you have a deadline? Go to a museum and keep your idea in mind if you have one yet. Keep walking around until a work strikes you. Write about what you feel. At least you won't have to worry about plagiarism. This is much better than referring to other writer's work to inspire you.

With most writers stress could cause writers block. The best thing that I have found is to relax. Even going somewhere you can be alone. Some, however, need to be around other people. Just be patient. It happens to everybody at one degree or another.

When I get it, which happens alot lately, I just step away from the writing and do something else I enjoy. I read, chat, shop, whatever to get my mind off of that pesky story. By the time I open it again, it's fresh to my eye and I can get going from a fresh mindset.

Close your eyes and think about what pleases you the most and then write about the opposite of your dream. May not be any good, but it will keep you going and might give you a story.

Just sit down and write anything. The actual process of putting words to paper or screen often gets the synapses firing. Good luck!

Write down anything that comes to mind. I know I always have great ideas and I lose them because I can't lock them in. So I started writing them down. Also, give your mind a break. Relax and read or listen to soothing music. That always helps. =)

I have written two books. One fiction, one non-fiction.
If it is fiction....then I would sit at my desk and close my
eyes and let my mind wander....Don't think of anything...
just let thoughts and feelings come to you.
If non-fiction, there should be no problem, maybe just how
to word it. But since it is a true subject, it's only a matter of
telling it like it is.
