I bought 2 of them today. One is solid black & the other is white with black specks. How can I tell which one is male & female...I'd like to try & breed some. Any advice or tips?

Look at the anal fins, or the fins by the butt.{not tailfins} If they fan out, it is a female. If they are stick shaped, they are female.

Tips: add a tsp. of salt per gallon of water in tank
Get more mollies- you can't breed just 2! Trust me, I'm a proffesional.
Do a 20% water change twice a week
Feed them brine shrimp
Go to aquariumfish.net or aquariumguys.com Thanx!

Males are more slender, females more round. Males also have a modified anal fin. Breeding mollies is pretty much a no brainer. If you have a male and a female, they'll breed like guppies. They are live bearers (no eggs, live babies). Make sure you have a lot of plants and things for the babies to hide in when they are born or they'll be lunch. When you see babies, scoop them up and put them in a "nursery" that you can hang from the side of the tank. Most pet shops carry them. They will be able to get big enough to not be eaten safely in a nursery. They can eat regular fish food as well, just crunch it into small pieces and don't over feed them. They're only about 1/16 of an inch long when they're born.

The females are usually bigger and rounder than the males, but the best way to tell is by looking at the fin underneath the tail-fin. On the male, this fin is kind of pointy and doesn't really look like a fin. On the female, it just looks like a regular fin. I don't know if that's a very good description, but if you have both sexes, this fin will look different when compared. Also, if your mollies aren't having any babies, they are probably all the same sex, because these fish are supposed to be pretty prolific. Here's a link with a so-so drawing:

both justme and mollielover are right, its all about the anal fin, but also know that there are many kinds of mollies, some have sail-fins and lyre-tails so the dorsal fin is kinda a way to tell. the anal fin is going to be almost pointed and looks a.. well .. a .. weenie, to be politically incorrect, but it does, for the male that is. the females anal fin looks more like a fan or an open fin. in some cases the males dorsal fin is much more dominant and much larger and longer than the females dorsal. also, breeding them isn't much harder than feeding them, they breed like rabbits, but , yes you do need to have more than two for better results and they don't necessarily need salt added to the tank but it does help, it shows them the time for seasons change when more saltwater is introduced in the freshwater supply, kinda like a time clock, but they will eventually breed just give them time, that is if you don't have two of the same sex. and you have a black molly and a Dalmatian or Marble molly, both of which are very nice. i have one of each myself. they can be very enjoyable and will show you much personality. good luck with your breeding , dont watch theyre shy.

Look at the fin under their belly. Pointed fin that turns to the side (is moveable) for insertion. Is a male and flat rounded fin on bottom is female. YOU CAN TELL BY LOOKING!

The males usually have a longer dorsal fin. The females are less colorful and have shorter fins

With the guppies the adult males are extra tricky with brighter hues and longer fins. the version in intercourse between the neons would be in the size of their neon stripe, the girls folk is shorter and the adult males run all alongside the physique, with the others i'm uncertain, yet they could have the two somewhat distinctive physique shapes or fin length (or the two)!

The male has a long fin next to his anal fin called a gonopodium. It points backwards and runs along his belly. It is the sexual organ, females have nothing along their anal fin.
