He says that i have to pay to change the complete stuff.. and estimates it to be around $300..but i jus did ride it only for about 200 meters and the clutch cable could have already been worn out for the most part...
Please help me out..!!!

A clutch cable only costs about $15 american. It takes about 5 min. to install it. He's trying to scam you into buying a new clutch.

300 for a clutch cable is bullshit it's around a 50 dollar part at most. go to your local bicycle shop and get a $5 cable and tell him to go **** a goat

Screw him..... thats just BS. Hes trying to hustle you, theres nothing you coulda done in a day to mess up a clutch cable. it was like that before, he knows it, now hes trying to cash in on you. besides $300 is way too much for a cable anyways. id clobber him, or at least tell him to F himself

guardrailjim is correct!!!!but i would probably clobber the guy just for the the principal of the matter.in all reality,it is not something that breaks instantly.the inner wire cable would have to have been fraying already.hey, even better, beat him with the old cable until it breaks, while you tell him what a piece of crap he is for trying to screw you!!!!!!

Just refuse to pay. He is still liable as he allowed you to ride the bike.

This same scenario was described on the radio show "Car Talk." They advised you split the bill.

Explain to him that it could have been already almost broken. That is really unfortunate =[
