fake nails can damage your real nail really bad. first of all when/if the pop off or you pry them off, the underside of the fake nail takes off a layer of your real nail....making them rough and uneven, even ridgy. it makes them more difficult to grow out. second, if you leave fake nails on too long with out taking them off, your natural nail starts to die because it doesn't get to breathe and you can get moisture underneath that turns your natural nail yellow....to get rid of that you have to take your fake nails off (completely) and use antifungal treatments on them....or see a nail salon for more treatments....

if you want your nails to grow....
take a multivitamin everyday (depending how old you are, ask your mom to get you a vitamin that suits your age group, they can be chewable - flinstones multivitamin - or something you swallow instead. either way they both work)
drink more milk and water
don't bite or chew them
try using a clear nail polish (just remember to take it off once in awhile)
try using a product made by sally henson...i can't remember the name of it, but it's liquid like a nail polish and clear, it makes them stronger and helps them grow faster. (i've used it and it really works well)

It isn't good for your real nails because all the glue and stuff damages the nail. But if you want longer nails believe it or not, it is not a myth that eating more jello will make your nails grow faster and thicker. They also have stuff that you can put on your nails to make them grow faster and thicker, this can help your nails stay long when they do grow long.

Just don't try to clip your nails that much unless they are super long!!! Be sure not to cut off all of the white part though, it's damaging!

very bad for your nails sometimes the glue doesn't come off and sticks to Ur real nail and never comes off. It can also change colors. If u want to grow Ur nails then u can cut them all the way down and don't bite them that is very bad. File them every day and soak Ur hands in water 2 times a day for 10 mins ur hands will get wrinkly but u will live. U should do this in warm water.
They should grow bigger and longer in 2 months also u can go to the pool alto bc chlorine helps alot.
if not any of the choices u choose then u can just put fake nails on but remember wat they can do to ur nails i am 20 i have never put fake nails on and my nails r perfectly healthy.

Fake nails can damage you nail bed, also the constant filing or the nails cause the nail itself to becom brittle and also the free edge of the nail, try to limit the constant artificial nailing placing, because your nails need a break!

For me fake nails always make my nails grow back very weak. They break at the smallest bump. Other than that I love to get my nails done.

They don't damage you, but they do make your nails underneath VERY soft, so even if you used them for your real nails to grow, odds are they would break when you took off the fake nails anyhow. You might want to try one of the polishes which are supposed to harden nails and make them grow faster.

i'm 12 years old and i used to put on fake nails all the time its really fun especially when your with your bffs!
but sometimes the glue can be really strong and the stronger the smell of the glue is, you should be more aware,
when you peel it off yourself, it turns out very wrong and your nails are going to look like a 800 year old banshees.
EEK.
get if professionaly done its the best way.
And your nails WILL grow long so dont worry :-)
I used to bite my nails but now i stopped it was like the worst habit of mine LOL
do you have a nail biting habit?
if you do, then get one of those sally hansen cure manicures. it actually works

Artificial nails do damage the layers of your nails and you put yourself at risk of nail fungus from improper adhesion. If your nails do not grow, take a prenatal vitamin, they are safe for everyone and they help your nails and hair to grow or buy Sally Hansens hard as nails, nail fiber and paint your nails 1 or 2 times daily, they will grow stronger within a week.

Millions of girls and women do it everyday, I guess the need for the long nails out weight the risks. Okay, these are some of the damage it can cause you......infections in the skin, and fingernail itself, yellow and damaged nails, poor circulation--nails need to breath just like your skin., lose of a fingernail due to all of the above. The products used and glues can be toxic to your skin and nails....so be very care full if you decide to have them....don't keep them on long periods of time.....go several days before using them again.

You have to be careful as to where you go as fungus can grow under the nails. I get pink and white nails and have gone to the same place for 6 yrs. I have never had a problem. Your real nails will become brittle.

It really dpends on the the type of fake nails you want to get.

If you get the cheap DIY type, they shouldn't do any harm, but if you get them done at the salon, then yes there's a higher chance of damaging your naturl nails. My friend got Gel nails done, and they actually filed her natural nails down quite thinly, and I think it's one of those things that once you start, you have to keep doing, and they're not cheap!

If you really want to grow out your nails, it'll take patience, and if you try Maximum Growth by Sally Hansen, it really works!
