About 5 years. I had a hairless rat, he lived for like 5 years.

in the wild they only live to about 9 months
fancy rats live on average 2 years, 3 if they are healthy and not suspect to respiratory diseases, tumours, cancerous growths and abcess..
4 is not quite so common, just lucky.

about 2 to 4 years my oldest is 3 1/2

About 3 years in the wild, probably 5 if well looked after in a cage.

It depends on the care they receive and their genetic background. Around 2-3 years is average, though some certainly live longer.

LOVE Rats! Most mine ever lived was 3yrs..most others i had lived 2.5 years!
