This song was written by John Fogerty and was first performed by John Fogerty as a member of Creedence Clearwater Revival. Many believe Tina Turner perfected it later (with Ike), but I personally prefer the original...

It (Proud Mary is the songs title) was written by John Fogarty of Creedence Clearwater Revival who did the original version. Personally I think Tina Turner did the definitive version. Her version was very soulful while CCRs was kind of country rock sort of.

I'm %200 sure that Creedence Clearwater Revival were the band that composed this song! Even in Tina's movie and her concerts she always mentions that this song belongs to CCR.
