place the cursor at the beginning of the text, hold the shift key and click the end of the text. This should highlight everything in between. ctrl+c to copy, ctrl+v to paste. You could also use ctrl+a to select all

You don't have to open a file to copy it. Use file explorer or any other way you know to get to the folder it is in, right click on it and select copy. right click again and select paste.

Hit the control button and A and the same time. CTRL+A = select all. Then CTRL+C to copy.
