I'll probably be lynched for asking this.. but rather than as a racial attack, I'm wondering about the reasoning and social upbringing of this. For example, speaking and laughing obscenely loud - either oblivious to the presence of anyone else or just not caring. Rowdy and uhh, enthusiastic or disrepectful - depending on who you ask. I only get this way when I'm completely drunk and still, I think I have some semblance of self-control.

I know I can't really speak for an entire race but I suspect it probably has something to do with stupid people stereotyping and racially profiling them.

You know, you can't even type a question with the word African American or Black in it. I swear about 90% of the people don't even read it...they see these two terms and automatically assume you're asking a racist question and immediately flame you for it, calling you a racist or bigot, without reading the details of the question.

I know exactly what you're talking about though...and contrary to what other people have answered, I've never seen other groups of people (Mexicans, Chinese people, English people, etc.) do this. Not once.

It is incredibly rude and annoying...especially when I'm on the train reading or making a phone call on my way to/from work. They just start cackling a bunch of old hens, with no regard to anyone or anything around them.

Personally, I think a good part of it (even though it may be subconcious) has to do with the fact that most people won't cross them because they can pull the race card out. If you were walking behind a group of black women who were doing this, would you (or anyone else out there) ask them to tone it down? Of course not! They'd immediately turn on you, give you major attitude and call you a racist.

Before you can ask this question, you'd actually have to know a large % of African Americans and based on your question, I would say that you don't. You are making a sweeping generalization about a group of people you simply do not know. There are people of other ethnicities that are also loud, rowdy, etc. Those who do behave that way, of any race, I would say it has to do with upbringing in part. Some people naturally have louder voices. I suggest you think about that and go watch Blue Collar TV or one of those types of TV shows that has other races being loud, obnoxious and rude. Also keep in mind that you don't have to be loud to rude or obnoxious. Your question certainly fit that bill and we can't hear you speaking at all.

Not all African-Americans are obnoxious. That is a racist assumption. I know many African-Americans who are not obnoxious. Some behave this way because they feel as if they can't fit in with the "mainstream" and therefore tend to hang amongst themselves. What you might call obnoxious is normal to some of the people you call obnoxious. It also depends on the situation. Some people are very laid back and loose with their behavior when they are not in a place of work or in a professional atmosphere. I should know. I have grown up seeing all of this. Maybe what you need to do is to try and understand some of the cultural differences and maybe you will understand and you won't make such racist generalizations.

You know what, I notice this too. I mean I actually have some African American friends who can not stand other African Americans who act like this. Now what does this tell you? It has got to be a lot in their up-bringing. There is nothing racist or bad about this question contrary to what people say. You asked this question in the most respectable way possible and if people have a problem with that than they should start reading and not assume everyone is racist. A lot of white people are the same way and it appears that it is in their up-bringing also. This is a good question and people who try to hide from it are hiding from themselves; like the person who said "shut up" yeah, she has some issues she needs to deal with.

Well I don't drink or use drugs, I wish people would stop putting all people in the same catagory just because they are the same race. I'm not obnoxious, I'm really a quiet shy person, The only way that am obnoxious is when I read something like this. Now, back to your drinking, why on earth do you put poison in your body and knowing what effects it will have on you, I wish you could explain that to you liver.

Because they are decendents of Cain! Cain killed Able and was forced to live with the monkeys! His people are, rude, obnoxious, disrespectfull, mean, and just really don't give a crap about society and what is proper. They don't take care of thier homes or neighborhoods. Don't take care of the businesess in their neighborhoods and when they move in, property values drop. Take any large city. There is a "West Side, South Side, or whatever side, that you just don't want to go in after dark. This is where they walk the streets cutting in front of traffic (not giving a crap about themselves or anything else), this is where they let thier trash just blow all over the streets. This is where if you parked your car for a hour or two, it would probably be stolen or at least broken into. This is where you just don't want to be.

It starts out with a nice married African American couple with an above average income, who care about themselves and thier families, they move into a nice part of town. Well, they have a son or a daughter who has a boyfriend or girlfriend and then they invite thier hoodlum friends over. Then thier hoodlem friends move to get closer. Then thier friends move in to get closer, etc. etc.. The next thing you know, the other races are moving out as thier property values are beginning to drop. Don't want to take a loss on a house that's supposed to appreciate. So people move out and no one moves in, until property values drop low enough for them to rent one. And there goes the neighborhood.

Decendents of Cain... I tell you..... Decendants of Cain!

I don't know why everyone has to turn this into "your rascist because you asked that question." And doesn't stereotyping have some basis in truth? The majority of African Americans I see are as you describe, but I am sure there are many who are not, I just haven't met them yet. I thought it was good of you to wonder about the reasoning and social upbringing, as I am sure that has a lot to do with it.

Oh, and don't assume I'm white, I'm actually half black and half white.

A simple answer- most black people are very laid back and take less offense to things, so talking and laughing loudly is just something they do. I'm African American as well, and I'm rather quiet and meek.
The point is, many African Americans are simply more laid back, and talking loudly doesn't offend them or bother them. It certainly doesn't bother me, unless someone is yelling in my ear.
