Dang, I blew the game winning shot at my basketball game. It went in and out. I feel like a failure. I feel like nothing. How do I recover from this? Please, I need answers.

Don't feel bad. I know you've had a horrible day but anyone could have missed the shot. You were at least the one who tried right? It's just one shot. You aren't the whole team either way. If the game was that close, you were playing against a team as good as yours was. No shame in not winning a fair game. You'll have better days on the court.

You didn't blow it. If it went in and out, it should have went in obviously. And you did all you can do so don't look upon it so badly. There were about a hundred plays that could have went just a LITTLE different that could have changed the game so no one would have to make the winning shot. And this is from personal experience. I allowed the game winning layup for the other team on a fastbreak playing for my 13-14 rec team. That was one of my teams only two losses of the season. And I went on the be the MVP of the championship game that we won.

You just have to learn to forgive yourself. Believe me, I have felt like a heel before and you have to move on. People are not going to hate you forever because you blew a basketball game. Ten years from now, except for maybe some bitter people who remember everything, you may be the only one who remembers what happened. Those people that have to keep rubbing it in are probably just glad that someone else made a mistake. Just ignore them and forgive yourself. If you have a lot of trouble with that, go over what you did wrong. Then practice it so you don't do it again. Good luck and I hope you feel better.

Relax! It is only a agme. And NO you did NOT lose the game for your team. Look at all of the shots that were missed during the game by all of the players?? Yours just happened to be the shot at the last minute before the buzzer went off. So, look at it in that light...You are not the one who lost the game, everyone who missed a shot is accountable too!

It's ok to feel sad but in the big picture the loss isn't important. I played sports and only remember a few scores, in fact we won the 4A state championship in football and I cant even remember the score! There were other missed shots in the game by other players on your team, if they didn't miss those shots you could have won the game.

Dont listen to these losers. Thinking that its ok, ir that its just a game or that you ll score the next time without doing anything bout it wont get you anything. Stay after a practise sssion and shoot 100 free throws,74 GF shots and 50 3pointers. Only stop if you achieve equal or higher percentage of 80% in FT, 60% in 2pointers and 35% in 3pointers.

It happens to everyone - a critical time when others depend on them, and they misperform and let others down. Not everything turns out like in the movies. You need to get a grip on yourself and realize it was just something you could not control. You cannot control exactly your state of mind at the time, the air temperature, how your psyche responds to subliminal external stimuli, all these factors and more have influences on performance. Ask yourself this, did you try hard? Don't ask if you tried your hardest, because that question's answer is a deep pit of regret. No one tries their true HARDEST at something unless its a situation like their kids are getting hurt or the woman they love is in trouble, You can't expect to CONTROL your own willpower like that.

So if you tried hard, that is all that is needed, try to remember that. There will be other games, and you will fail again, and so will others. You will succeed too. In order not to let yourself get wrapped up. Try to find other hobbies to engage in in the interim.

You think thats bad? I cost my team our championship wrestling tournament by beating up the referee. And I won the match!

But seriously you will move on and forget it. Besides, you might make a game winning shot when a scout is at your next game. Keep the faith.

You can't expect every game winner to go in. Even the greatest missed some. All you can do is to keep shooting them and forget about the ones you miss. That's how a shooter thinks, Even if you've been missing all your shots all night, just keep shooting.

Believe me I missed many game winners as well as made many game winners but the key is to keep your head up and practice for that next opportunity to win a game. And all that practicing will pay off I GUARANTEE.
