Here's a tip a friend taught me: When you get the raccoon look, take a Q-tip. On one end, smudge your eyeliner all around and don't worry if the raccoon gets worse. Then flip it over and lightly lick the end of it. Trace around your eyeliner with the licked end of the Q-tip, and the dampness will thin the line and clean around the edge. Always smudge though.

It depends on what look your going for. I like to have a natural look to my make-up so I hardly use a pencil or liquid. Instead I pick three eyeshadow colors. A light color, middle color, and then a darker color I put on as eyeliner. I have small eyes so it works really well for me. Sometimes I will use a bronze eyeliner pencil. It still gives me a natural look, makes my eyes bigger but you can't tell I have on eyeliner 20 feet away. If your going to use black then doint paint or color it on. Use a small thin line. You want people to see your amazing eyes first. So if you don't want to use the three shadows then I would put a thin line of whatever pencil/liquid you want on the top lid and try on your lower lid and small line of the lighter color eyeshadow you used. Oh for the top lid and where I start it at. I look forward into the mirror and see where my iris curves farthest to your inner eye. I would start the pencil line right there and follow the lid line out but not out onto your cheek. Hope this helps.

I know it is expensive but Mac puts out a liner in a jar, that you can buy a liner brush for and depending on your eye color, the violet is beautiful, not bright. Also Almay makes eye kits to match what your eye color is and they are great. As for liquid, that better than pencil or any of the other liners because it doesn't run when it is hot out. Try a liquid pen, if you do not like it, you can return it. Make up can be returned to even brand name stores, like Macy's and Filenes

I use an eye pen, it works well! I use a brown shade (not black) to lightly highlight the bottom of my eye, but I don't use the liner on my eyelids. I prefer to use a dark shade of brown. For mascara, I only apply it to the top. It makes your eyes look bigger. There really is no way to learn quickly, it takes time to figure out what works for your eyes.
Good luck ~ Elle

ok i use pencil all the time and everynow and then i use liquid for the top for a 40's look depends where ur puttin the liner top or bottom. if u really dont like pencil use liquid, very carefully not to get it in the eye and let dry dont blink because it will mess up.
good luck =)

Here is what I do...I am eyeliner challenged too. I bought a small paintbrush at the hobby store. It is bent at the end at an angle. I dip it into water and then work it into my eyeshadow. I line my eyes with this using a thin layer and making it darker and darker by adding layers. The bend in the brush makes it sooo much easier and the watered eyeshadow gives me more color choices and color "heaviness". Try this trick, I think you will be amazed.

Have you tried using brown eyeshadow? What I do is take an eyeshadow wand--one with a really narrow tip, dampen it slightly w/ some water and then put the eyeshadow on it. Start from the inner corner and apply it really close to the lash roots. It works really well! Looks natural, dries fast, and doesn't smear or fade : )

are you using a liquid eyelines now? if so...try holding your eyelid tight at the outside end....start from the inside and do it lightly...in one smooth motion go from inside to outside on your top lid only....this will keep you from looking like a raccoon...make sure you are using a eye makeup remover before you go to sleep that way it won't smudge across your face. you don't want to use it on your bottom lid since it's liquid and not pencil....it's too runny for that.

hey i wear eyeliner everyday
mostly black
black isnt that bad
and its not "way too dark"
just avoid looking like an emo by wearing it under OR ON your eyelids but if you are going to wear it under your eyes...
DON'T overapply it! you will look like a goth...
i used to put it a little too much but now if i do it a little wrong, i use q-tips to make the eyeline ONLY outline my eyes, not my whole face!
lol
okay hope that helps.
and i'm not trying to be mean but if you said that you knew HOW to do your eyeliner, you wouldn't be having so much trouble with this
would you?
not trying to be mean though

I say use the pencil eyeliner that twist up rather of sprucing for the within of your eyes. Liquid/gel for on most sensible (your lashline) and kohl or pencil for only your eyes (if u ever positioned eyeliner underneath your eyes, now not simply within the waterline)
