I read this book and I really liked it and I was wondering what everyone else thought?. Anyone see the movie and read the book? What did you think of the movie?

I read the book. The author has tried to fictionalise a fiction believed to be Truth for last at least 1800 years whole over the world. We can not under rate the book, as it has raised so much of controversy after it was made into a movie. However, Truth always triumphs. Between the book and the movie, I still prefer the book. It is, indeed, an intellectual exercise.

Angels and Demons is better, and I can't wait for the movie. I had heartburn with Tom Hanks, to be honest. I just couldn't picture him as the main character. I thought it should be someone a tad younger and more athletic. I know he is supposed to be a scholar but someone like Daniel Craig who is more studly would have been better. I can't believe I used the word studly, but you get the picture. I also liked Digital Fortress, which is totally different except for the code theme. It was a hard book to transfer to the screen, and maybe was too much for Dan Brown to try and condense without losing some of the intricacies of the book. I like to use my imagination when reading so often the movie doesn't meet those concepts and it disappoints. It is fun though to see it all come alive in technicolor.

A better question would probably be, 'Has anyone NOT read the Da Vinci Code?" I only read the book and enjoyed it immensely, if you haven't read the prequel to it you should. It's called Angels and Demons and is as good, if not better, than Da Vinci.

I enjoyed both the book and the film. What I particularly liked about the film is how it helped me conceptualise things in the book that I found hard to imagine (you don't want to know what I imagined the cryptex to look like!) but I didn't like how the ending wasn't clear enough in showing Sophie's relationship to the guy at Rosslyn Chapel. That said, Hanks made a good Langdon despite being a decade older than I would have preferred.

However, I always felt that 'Angels and Demons' was a far superior book and would have made a more interesting film.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I loved the book. I am not a reader of thrillers, normally. I loved it from the start- action beginning from the very first scene, the very first page. It kept my attention. It had excitement, danger, laughs and thrills.

I read this for my book club. All the members loved it. The majority are Catholics and found nothing offensive- it was just a story. We also found the story about Mary Magdalene fascinating.

Your joking right?? Everyone in the world has read the DaVinci Code!! LOL!! I thought it was a great read and, like you, I really enjoyed it too. I haven't seen the movie yet-I will wait till its on cable or comes out on DVD. I'm willing to bet its nowhere near as good as the book!!

Read the book, didn't see the movie. Book was an average murder mystery. Kinda boring. Took too long to get to the point. Not sure of what all the hoopla was about.

The book was a good read but the movie was horrible.

By the way, Jesus IS the Son of God and He never married Mary Magdalene.
