In the very end, we see Roseanne sitting in the basement. Remember when Dan and the kids turned it into her "office" for her birthday one year? Well, instead of all the fancy changes that were made to the house in the last year, we see the basement as it was then. It turns out that the last season, where the family won the lottery, was all a part of a book that Roseanne was writing to try to help her heal after Dan died.
In the very end, the family is sitting at the kitchen table sharing a meal, like in so many episode openings. The camera pans around the table and we hear Roseanne's voice as she is telling what really happened with the family members. According to her, David actually married Becky, Mark actually married Darlene, Jackie was really a lesbian (I believe) and Dan died of the heart attack that he had at Darlene's wedding. They never really won the lottery... the lottery was a part of Roseanne's attempts to try to move on and get herself out of the depression that came when Dan died.
I hope that covers the biggest stuff.
God, I know way too much about that show. My husband is home during the summer and Oxygen has started playing the first season of Roseanne, which I practically know by heart. He thinks I'm nuts, I swear.

If you remember early in the show, Roseanne always wanted to be a writer. Well, in the final episode, Roseanne is writing a book about her and the family. The evnets of the show was based on this book that she was writing. In reality, Becky was with David, and Darlene was with Mark, Jackie was a lesbian, and Dan died when he had the heart attack. In her book, she changed the things that didn't make sense to her so that they would make sense. In the book, which was the entire show, she put Mark and Becky together, and David and Darlene together. Her mother was the lesbian and instead of Dan dying, she made him out to be having an affair with another woman. It is really confusing if you don't watch the final episode carefully.

I think it's sort of sad. It makes it seem as if everything that has happend is what she has written as a mom looking back and changing things in her life. Like, Becky is really married to David, I think? And she thinks back about Dan who died of a heart attack. I know that Roseanne is available on DVD, so if not already then soon I think the last episode will be available there. However, they do show Roseanne ALL The time on Nick @ Nite.

Darlene and David bring their baby home and becky and mark say their pregnant but dont tell the rest of the cast and roseanne tells viewers that dan died bcause of his heartattack and that the episodes since were what she as a writer, wife and mom wished would have happened, really good episode watch it when it comes on if you can.

Something like it was all a story she was making up (Roseanne was making up). Dan was dead, Jackie was a lesbian. That's all I remember from when I saw it (originally). There's probably a site that can tell you all about it, but I didn't find it (right off the bat).
