Could be that your coils have frosted up. Try shutting off the unit to thaw it out (several hours). Also, you could have a leak in your coolant and it needs to be recharged.

Rob....finish the sentence my man....the fan outside doesn't ______ ??? What is it the fan is to do? Turn? Work? Paint Petunias? If the fan is blowing inside then it must be blowing outside. If this is the case and there is no cool air...then you've got a refrigerant problem. If the unit is very old, you may want to update now to an energy efficient one. If not, then call a repairman quick.....don't be another heat statistic!

The thermostat is on "Cool" right? Next check the fuses or circuit breakers to the condenser unit (outside). If they are good, you could have a control (thermostat and contactor) problem. Next after that you get into bigger bucks as the compressor or fan are malfunctioning.

You must of tripped a breaker for your A/C unit outside. Check your main panel box to see if it tripped. If not you might have to call in a tech to make sure that your relay for your A/C unit is working right.
Good Luck

if the fan outside is not turning,,,,there is your problem,,,,but you may have a bigger problem than that,,, if you can hear the compressor comeing on in the outside unit, pull the disconnect, your fan or capacitor is burt up, and will lead to a very costly compressor failure if not fixed right away,
