All that I can remember about is there is a family that goes away on a sailboat and a storm sinks the ship and they are forced to live in the life boat for some time. there were two sons and a daughter that didn't end up going with them. I don't know who the actors were or when it was made. I think it was a true story.

hmm...i don't think its your movie...cause there was one daughter and son...it was "captain ron" and it was more of a comedy with martin short. your movie sounds like a real downer.
