My husband and I have been together for 5 years. We want to get pregnant soon when I am 24.

I have been working full time since I graduated high school to pay for living and college expenses.

So I have been going to college part time at night.

Even without anyone’s help, I still managed to buy a house , pay off two brand new cars and land an accounting job with A LOT of potential. My job was $30,000 starting with full benefits, holidays, 401k, etc. I have been there for about 2 years and I LOVE my job so much!

Problem: After 4-5 years of going to school, I am graduating this fall with an ASSOCIATES degree in liberal arts.

I don’t want to go to night school and work with a child. I cannot quit my job and go to school full time, so if I did get my bachelor’s I would have to go to school for another 5 years part time.

Our house is almost paid off and we will have $0 debt, its not like I want or need to have some $100,000 job.

What would you do?

Graduate this fall, keep your current job and have the baby. Atleast you will have the associates degree IF you need to find a job later on. Whats the reason for a bachelors degree if you already have everything you want but a family.

Be prepared for motherhood the best you can. You are very young and motherhood is very hard. Be prepared for lots of sleepless nights, your body changing beyond your recognition and a definite change in your marriage. Also please consider being a stay at home mom when you have a baby and not going back to work for several years. If you can afford to quit your job and have a baby and stay home then I would say go ahead and start trying. If you just want to have a baby then zip back into your work routine, I would advise against it.

Good luck.

If your job is not conditional to you getting a bachelor's degree, then why don't you stop going to traditional school after you get the associate's degree?

Many many people get their bachelor's degree online nowadays, and some of the schools are well respected. perhaps you should look into that as an alternative if you really want the bachelor's degree.

My boyfriend is a college student at UWM who is 24, like you. He goes from job to job at this point. So he will be staying in school to make a better life for us. You are successful! It might be time for a break, You have it all for right now. What you did in school won't erase itself. Take time for you and the baby, you seem very financially stable, you can always go back to school.

I'd try to get pregnant (it takes time) and once it happens, way out your decisions then. It would do you no good to quit everything now, you're not pregnant. Once you become pregnant, I would say find a part time job until you know you can live without your income. Good luck

It seems like you are doing well without a bachelor's degree, so follow your heart and have a family.

Do whats in your heart. Understandably your biological clock is ticking. You are doing well in life and are responsible, I do think now is the perfect time for you to start a family.
