- A URL (Uniform Resource Locator, previously Universal Resource Locator) - usually pronounced by sounding out each letter but, in some quarters, pronounced "Earl" - is the unique address for a file that is accessible on the Internet. A common way to get to a Web site is to enter the URL of its home page file in your Web browser's address line. However, any file within that Web site can also be specified with a URL. Such a file might be any Web (HTML) page other than the home page, an image file, or a program such as a common gateway interface application or Java applet. The URL contains the name of the protocol to be used to access the file resource, a domain name that identifies a specific computer on the Internet, and a pathname, a hierarchical description that specifies the location of a file in that computer

The home page is the page that your web browser opens up to when it starts each time. The home page can be any page you like. A URL is is a web address in stands for Universal Resource Locator. It is just another term for Web address.
Hope this helps.
PS
An avatar is a little picture that can represent you online. The little picture beside this answer is my avatar.

After you open your browser, whichever website you want to go is known as URL (Uniform Resource Locator) for ex. http://answers.yahoo.com/
Whenever you open your browser, a default website which is already set under the intenet options, opens up is known as Home Page.
The front page, main page or the index page of any website can also be called as Home Page.
But here as you are signing up with Yahoo 360, they are asking for your personal Home Page i.e a specific website or blog which you own and contains information about you.
And please dont ever consider yourself as hopeless with computers, because if you have got real interest in it nothing is impossible.
The avatar question is already answered by Lorelei.

your home page is the website that comes up when you open internet explorer (if thats what you use), the URL is the address of the page in your address bar at the top of your browser
eg the URL of yahoo answers is http://answers.yahoo.com
most likely you've typed it in slightly wrong, it needs to be exact

You don't need to put anything in as the home page. This is only for those who have their own home page setup in yahoo. You may have one in time, you never know :)

an avatar is a little picture that goes beside your name in internet forums or chats or on journals so people can see what you look like (or just a picture you like)
