I stay in Ohio. approximately 10 years in the past, Trick or Treating (or Beggar's evening) became on Sunday afternoon (for safety motives). Now, that's the final Saturday in October- in many cases 6-8 pm. This in many cases falls on or close to the time substitute. previous to the initiating of Trick or Treating, the city hosts a party at an area center on the city. young ones can come dressed up and play video games, and so on. There are prizes and candy, and so on. a secure place to have fun the holiday. After that, that's Trick or Treating and a mad sprint for as lots candy as you will get in a 2 hour time span. i understand a few religious communities do no longer' approve of Halloween, despite if that's quite often little young ones in lovable costumes going door to door for candy. i assume if the mothers and fathers do in comparison to this ritual, they'd circulate to the city party.

Halloween is the 31st, no matter what. However, in my area trick or treat night varies. My neighborhood always has it on the Sunday evening nearest halloween from 4 to 7. That way the hours are set, everyone knows, and no one is out too late.

Of course it is not a good idea. Halloween is the 31st October, end of story.
I've lived in KILMARNOCK for the last 30 of my 60 years and have had to endure this bizarre, misguided, deluded, weird local tradition, so much so I had to embrace it to allow my two children inclusion!

Otherwise the people of Kilmarnock are perfectly normal and generally friendly.

Halloween is October 31st for a reason. It is All Hallow's Eve, which by definition has to be the night before All Hallow's Day, November 1st. Suggesting a change is asinine.

Because Halloween is October 31. I don't want people doing stuff to my house if I'm out on a Friday night.

I totally agree because it is not just about trick or treating either everybody goes to parties and has fun on halloween and in my expierience teachers still give homework on halloween so you have two options that suck, do your homework and miss out on all the spirited fun, or not do ur homework and you get in trouble and your grades slip, plus people have to work to, and noone gets to bed at a reasonable hour on haloween, but i dont think it would ever change because there is to much history behind halloween, i know its a bummer.

Halloween has been on October 31 since 5th century BC you cant change something that old just to make it more convenient. It would be like changing the date of Christmas.

You mean trick-or-treat? No one's going to change the date of Halloween to revolve around a school night. Halloween is a historical observance...not just an American thing. So no, not a good idea.

No. There is a reason Halloween is celebrated on October 31st.

Yes make it called "Observed Halloween",
and still show the old date to make the traditionalist happy.
Great idea now get a act from congress to get it done.
