I had to take apart my bathroom today cause my 2 yr old flushed a bottle of benedryl spray down the comode. So all went I guess fine until my mom says dont forget to replace the seal. Is that a must all the time or can I get by without a new one????

Yes you do need to replace the wax seal. If you don`t you will have water leakage and it would rot out your floor and this would cost alot of money to repair the floor. A seal costs very little. I believe around 7 or nine dollars.

It's a must. Once the old seal has been dislodged, it tends to leak. Then you are looking at replacing a rotting floor instead of a seal.

No, you cannot get by w/o a new seal under your toilet, that has to be replaced. You'll get water damage on your floors if you don't. You might want to consider getting a pro to do it too, because you have to set the toilet down right the first time, or you'll have to replace that seal.

it is recomended to replace the seal any time the camode has been lifted, it may or may not leak, but is not worth the chance of buying a new floor, a seal only cost about 3 bucks

If the seal is faily new and in good shape you could use a putty knife and rebuild it. but why bother or take the chance the seal is only $1 allmost anywhere, just put a new one on.

Don't chance it. The cost to replace the floor from a slow leak could be expensive. This is a step you don't want to skimp on.

if you don't replace it your toilet will leak and slowly your floor will rot out from under it.
