Randy D, I am hoping my children would aspire to saving lives not using other people's children as target practice, so go get a life and I pity your children had a parent like you.

Toddo from M..., for you argument to make sense you have to accept that 9/11 was the work of 16 Saudi terrorists. WELL I DON'T. Look a bit closer to home.

Ian H.. take the advice of the conservative hawks on this forum.. If it's that bad for you get the hell out of there. After 42 years, I suspect you are living a better life in the ME than you would do in the US. Right?

We conservatives think that ALL the problems in the world can be solved using firearms, bombs and rockets.
We fail to see that there is a distinction between fighting terrorists and fighting terrorism. One is fighting a physical enemy, the other is fighting an ideology and culture.
If you have a finite number of terrorists against you, it's better to fight them, but if you have an ideology fighting against you, no matter how many terrorists you fight, the ideology will always spawn fresh new terrorists.
In that case, it would be better to fight ideologically, culturally, public relations, education, public opinion. A Terrorist Red Phone would be a good idea.
Unfortunately, we conservatives ignore such facts and prefer to stick with Bush's way: BRING EM ON !!! Bush said.
By blindly fighting terrorists in the name of the war against terror, we have emboldened the ideology of terrorism. We might have killed a lot of terrorists, but we made terrorism more resolute and decided and we made terrorism stronger. It will spawn more terrorists.
Yet, we still say, BRING EM ON !!!

You assume that those who support our troops or a given cause are glad to be killing people and tearing up things. That doesn't even warrant a reply, so let's get past the "warmonger" thing right there.
Perhaps you are afraid to frame the argument correctly. A Pacifist at heart believes that war is never a solution. That's cool. But that puts you in the position of falling prey to those who don't give a rip about you. Like those fellas who killed 4,000 some odd innocents in 9/11.
Do you assume that if you refuse to fight that they'll just go away? They have called us the great Satan, they want to wipe the U S of A off the planet. That is their stated goal, and it's not just rhetoric, it's their philosophy.
Pacifists usually turn to negotiation, but sooner or later, you will meet an enemy that refuses to talk, other than to gain by easier means what they've already intended to take by force.
It's called "taking the fight to our enemy". They've already declared war, it's up to us to either defend ourselves or tuck tail and run. And one can defend themselves on another person's turf...to push the enemy's military capabilities where it cannot harm you...which is what we have done, and what Israel is doing.
By the way, the only reason innocent civilians are being killed is Hezbollah's doing. They're the ones aiming at civilian targets. They are the ones who are holing themselves up where civilians are, and when Israel drops leaflets saying "get out", Hezbollah agents refuse to let them leave.
Here's what it comes down to; Liberals, by and large, are anti-semite. And those few that are pro Israel (Joe Liberman) get left out in the cold. Liberals are "live and let live" as long as who is having to be put in harm's way is somebody else.
It is the Liberals who should be ashamed. They don't have the courage of their convictions. They do not proudly proclaim their belief that they agree with the Jihadists, that America is evil, and if America would just leave well enough alone, nobody would fight. It's funny hearing all the Liberals have now made "superpower" a dirty word, as in "America is the last superpower, and they're trying to referee the world". What they are thinking but won't say is that "because they think they're so morally superior to everybody, when in fact they enjoy killing and excess."
Think about that, if you have the courage to.

I detest war and the killing of innocent civilians also. Sometimes war is required to get peace. Do you think nothing is worth fighting for? I know all you people seem to think that if we all just hold hands and talk nice to each other we will all get along. Diplomacy only works when you have someone to be diplomatic with. Diplomacy didn't work with Hitler, Stalin, Tojo or Mussolini. It won't work with Hezbollah or any radical Islamic group either. The sooner people like you realize this the sooner the world will be a safer place.

I hate war too. I believe that it is horrible that anyone has to die. I believe that people who are civilians should be protected at all cost short of our troops dying. I also think that any Dem that thinks a conservative wants war is deluded. (warmonger) I mean really what is this war monger crap. Sometimes war is a necessary evil. Yes some people (very few) may even make some money off of war but as a whole party of republicans I have to say more of them are either in harms ways or have a child in harms way then are actually making a dime off of it.

Pursueing liberal vs. conservatives only ends up frustrating people.
An example would be the Clinton Administration was focused on a tight budget and keeping government waste to a minimum.
The opposite holds true now under present Administration.
The ongoing conflicts using troops is costing all taxpayers well into the next two generations when it could be handled more efficiently and less costly.
Since nobody is clamoring over the wasteful spending going on, it seems the new mantra is having a free hand.
And yes, loss of lives daily demeans our national strength.

I am conservative on some issues but here's how I feel; human life is too precious and we claim to be civilzed. In this day and age, should we be able to find a better resolution? I understand that with situations like this that sometimes people will not reason with you and you have to be forceful, I don't believe war is the answer but there aren't many better options right now. So sad!

I am extremely conservative and I too detest war and the killing of innocent civilians. However, I am also not a coward, or some namby pamby bleeding heart who believes that if we "just try to understand them" they will talk to us and be our friends (whoever "they" are at the time). Sometimes you have to take action, and while it is extremely unfortunate that this sometimes comes to war, and sometimes innocents are killed, there is no government or army on the face of the planet that goes further out of it's way to develop and use weapons that minimalize collateral damage, so STFU.

Turn on the radio and you will find out..
They'll say this: "I believe that freedom is not free, we can't expect to have a war without casualties, it's the price of war and our freedom. You should be happy that people in the past fought for your freedom or you wouldn't be typing that question right now. If John Kerry were president we'd all be wearing turbins on our heads, he would've never even went to Iraq because he's a pansy(really retarded). Blah blah lie lie blah"
Yep, that's how retarded they are alright...

Idiot. Non-liberal does not equal warmonger. I detest war as much as anyone but unlike you I am not afraid to do what needs to be done in the best interest of the world -- which includes saving you tree hugging bed wetters.
