someone is realizing without fully seeing that they are either lying or being lied to, or that their image of themselves is something other than what they see... and trying to find their way in life, but for some reason, they keep slipping into this fantasy world and can't find whats real in life

Sounds like lyrics from a metal song written by a poetically (or chemically) confused person lookin' down. Instead of lseeing mirrors, deceptions, darkness and fading reality he should simply turn around and look up! It's there too!

Looking through the mirror of deception- The illusion of separation; the fact that we are all one; since all reflect back at us, and we don't realize it, we are decieved, from the illusion of separation.
Searching through the darkness... of being separated from Our Divine Creator. Being human, we are a dark lot, humans killing humans in the name of God...
Fading from reality---we constantly die to the past. And then our physical form will one day die. And fade from the reality of those left incarnating.
So live for now! Today!
P.S. I am no zen-master myself. These are just my translations, I have quite the philosopher's heart, and have studied much.

Reality is a deception. By looking through the fallacy of it and finding a light you no longer are part of the lie, and fade from it.
