at 38 weeks I was almost 2cm dialated. I ended up having my baby at 39 weeks(1 week early). By the time I got to the hospital I was in pain from the contractions and I was dialated past 5cm.
Everyone is different, but birth is just around the corner. Just be sure to listen to your body. When you feel like your contractions are about 3-5min. apart and they wont go away for at least an hour...get to the hospital!
How exciting and good luck!

only time will tell, but yes, you can begin labor with just being slightly dialated. You want the baby out? have lots of sex! It worked for me within 45 minutes I was in active labor

At 37 wks i changed into no longer some thing. At 38 wks i changed into 50% effaced. At 39wks i changed into eighty% effaced and a million cm dialted. He changed into born 5 days later. My midwife advised me that often (pretty first timers) you efface first then start up to dilate. So yeah, i imagine if both are a hallmark of work i'd say the effacement (alothough it continues to be no longer a sturdy indicator).

You could start today, tomorrow, two weeks from now. We are all different. Your baby will decided. By the way - Congratulations!

You're body is priming up - but you can be "finger tip" for weeks.
