I would have to say that they represent the desires/looks/life/location that we wish we had.

Sometimes however, we idolize them because of their personalities. I don't idolize anyone, not certain why that would be, never have been taken by celebrities or the upper echelon of the political circuit. Even having met a few main players in the political field, I wasn't impressed, enamored or ga ga over them...they are like anyone, one pant leg on at a time.

I imagine that with these escapes that idolization provides, we can imagine for awhile that we "know" the celebrity or public official because we know so much about them via written, visual documentation.

I guess some people need this in their lives, I don't believe that I do...at least not yet :)

Images are designed to remind us of something or someone special to us. I don't idolize say, a painting of Abraham Lincoln. I "idolize" (or admire) that man and his deeds...not a piece of canvas with oil paint on it. The image just reminds me of him.

This seems harmless enough.

B/c we all need some kind of motivation to be better ourselves.
