If they're in the house, begin with cleaning like mad, top to bottom.
Ants are not fond of chili powder, try sprinkling that around the doors.
They also hate it when you pour boiling water on their ant hills.
If all else fails, get a gartersnake to live by your house. That's the only thing that tamed my parents problem!

Mix together equal parts sugar and 20 Mule Team Borax (can buy it in the laundry soap section). Sprinkle it where the ants are. Don't have to use a lot. The sugar attracts them. They carry the Borax back to the nest, and it kills there too. I never saw another ant in my house again. I swear by it.

You can go to the market or Walmarts and buy combat houses for ants. Also they have these ant stakes you can put around the foundation of you house. These both worked for me. Also my mother inlaw had home solutions. She would put moth balls in a jar like a baby food jar and punch holes in the lids and put these where the ants are or where they come in. another of her ideas was take boric acid and mix little sugar with it, sprinkle in your cabinets or wherever the ants come in at. Safety: if you have small children i would take precaution. LOL

Terro it is the best stuff on the market for killing ants. I just bought some yesterday. Besides the liquid you put on little pieces of cardboard, they also have liquid ant baits. I have a cat and a dog and the baits don't let my pets have access to the poison. Good Luck.

Encircle the outside perimeter of your house with ordinary table salt. Ants will not cross the salt to get in. Then tackle the inside pests by cleaning up any spilled food items, secure bags of chips, sugar, cereal etc in locktite containers. Don't leave food lying around the house. Good Luck!

I had ants in the mailbox. I used an unused scented Bounce fabric softener sheet shut up in the box. Took two, but haven't had a problem since. Good luck!

if it is an ant bed put grits on the mound. They will carry them to the queen and when she eats it, it will swell and kill her, the other ants that dont die, will move. they will not live without the queen.

Try wiping surfaces with vinegar. If they're coming in thru a crack use a spray bottle. Leave surfaces damp.
