You need to know the density of the material. Tons is a weight and cubic yards is a volume. So, it'd be very different for soil or rock or water or feathers...If you can find a density in lb/ft^3 or something like that, then you can convert one to the other.

Ton is a weigh unit. Cubic yard is a volume unit. To convert from one to the other, you need to know the density of the material. For example, a ton of heavy liquid like mercury will take up smaller space than water would.

Depends on the density of the material in question (and also if you mean metric tons, 1000kg, or english tons, 2000 lbs). A cubic yard of lead would weigh more than 8 metric tons, but a cubic yard of dry air at sea level at room temperature weighs about one kilogram.

it depends on what the yard is? Like a yeard of concreat is alot more heavy than a yard of dirt. a yard is 3X3X3
