Unfortunately it took your spouse 23 years to admit that they found enough qualities in you attractive enough to marry you, but there are other qualities that they wish you had, but don't. When they say that you are not their ideal partner it just means that there are areas where they wish you could be different. Also, I think it might mean that they are changing what they want in you and may be hinting that they would like you to ask them what you can do to be more of a "perfect" partner. If they don't want to answer you, they are most likely being content and don't want to upset the apple cart. Good Luck

it means they are having their cake AND eating it!!!! this is a very belittling and crushing thing to say over and over again!! this person is playing Top Dog with you, time to call their bluff, NEVER let anyone treat you like that, you don't deserve it and you owe it to yourself to sort this situation out ,No Matter What!!!! LIFE is Not a rehersal, THIS IS IT!!!!!! if something is not right or not working, get out of it and find someone who DOES think that you're their ideal person and will love and appreciate you. Please Don't be a doormat, that is what they say "the rock you will perish on". you are a person too so sweetheart, take control, get out there and LIVE!!! good luck, hope iv'e helped a little bit, bye for now.

it means that all the things they have lived with all these years are perhaps starting to niggle them, but if they still love you then it can't be too bad. there is no perfect partner or ideal partner, so try to stay positive, however, if this is being repeated over and over again, you must respond to this by saying, if there is a problem, you must tell me NOW. good luck love tina

which ever one that is saying this and you say that they have been saying this for 23yrs and you stayed with them why????? it sounds like they didnt have the balls to leave you and go and find what their ideal partner was. They was quite content to live like that, but it was cruel of the person to say this to you over and over again. What makes them think that they are all that !!!!!!cos if they were, then why hadnt they attracted their deal person into their life.As far as them saying that they still love you, if they did they wouldnt put you through this torment, also it seems that they are putting on you what they dont possess themselves. So the decision is yours stay or leave, either way you have to ask yourself the question" WHY AM I PUTTING UP WITH THIS"? 23yrs is a long time but i would rather be on my own than be with someone who says they would rather be with someone else.Pick up your pride and self esteem and run with it. I hope this helps

If he keeps on saying it, ask him why he bothered marrying you if you were not what he wanted, and why he has just wasted 23 years of your life!!! He is an arsehole of the highest order. You tell him that he isnt up to the standard you expected but you still stayed with him!! See if he likes it!!! PAYBACK TIME

It is the same story everywhere .There are no ideal partners. Adjustment to shortcomings of the partner is the key to success.

It means that there are problems in the marriage that you're tiptoeing around. Get to the heart of it together and make your marriage better.

No one is ideal. I would ask them exactly what that is supposed to mean.
