Hi there, I'm going to Disney World this Sunday and I wanted to know what the best transportation means were. We're staying at a hotel in Kissimmee...so from the airport, should we take a taxi there? A shuttle?

And for anyone that has used the taxis, shuttles, etc. to get around, how much do they usually charge? Say, per mile?

Thanks so much!!

Try Mears transportation, one of the largest transportation companies in Orlando. I know they travel a lot from the airport, but I don't know how far they go. Rates aren't too pricy either. They send a van and if it so happens that there are other people going to the same area, the ride will be cheaper too. Taxis definately cost the most and aren't worth it.

Having been in your shoes on many occasions, I highly recommend taking a taxi. Shuttles won't leave the airport until they are full, they stop at every hotel but YOURS and drop you off la sat. Taxi's get you there in half the time so you can start your vacation. You will pay a little more for a taxi, but you will get your money's worth. If there are two or more of you, the taxi can actually cost the same as a shuttle.

If you're staying in Kissimmee, they'll probably have shuttles to take you to the main parks, or Downtown Disney. From there, if you'll want to visit anywhere else, Disney has shuttles provided to go to individual locations, such as the water parks and their recreational facilities. Also, at Magice Kingdom and Epcot, they have a monorail system which takes you to several hotels to the Magice Kingdom, and from Magic Kingdom to the Transportation and Ticket Center [TTC], and also, at the TTC, there is a monorail which goes to Epcot. So basically, if you have a shuttle which goes to one of the parks, you're set.

Oh yeah! Be sure to know the times for your shuttle. They may or may not arrive at the time the park closes, and if you miss it, that'll be... really bad. Also, keep in mind that Disney shuttles get really crowded after paraded and fireworks, so keep that in mind. You could ask any desk service for a times guide [or where to get one ] of the busses, or they should be posted. I'm not quite sure about this, since every time I go my family has a car. If you have any questions I'll be happy to answer them! :)

Most of the hotels in Kissimmee offer shuttle service. If you pay a "resort fee" with your room, the shuttle will be free. The resort fee is usually around 5.00/day.

Don't rule out renting a car. It's not that much more expensive and you have the flexibility of doing other things.

I know I sound cheap, but the money I saved buying souvenirs, sun screen, bottled water, etc at Wal-mart (5 minute drive), almost payed for my car.

Also, we took a drive to Cocoa Beach. One hour east and we were playing in the ocean.

Use Mears for your transportation needs. They are located at the bottom level of the Orlando International Airport and cost MUCH less than a taxi cab or other shuttle service.
You can find out how much it will cost by visiting their website. Just do a search for Mears Transportation.
Have fun!

I'm not sure if it is more crowded in November, but we rarely had trouble getting on any bus when we were there 2-weeks ago, though did have to stand sometimes. Pop - MK = 20 to 25 minutes Pop - Epcot = 15 to 20 minutes Pop - Hollywood Studios = 10 minutes Pop - Animal Kingdom = 10 to 20 minutes (depends on the driver) Pop - other hotels = 20 to 30 minutes Between Parks - Average 20-minutes Monorail is really fast so not long at all.

Shuttles are always the best. One will come to your hotel, if its owned by Disney. Ive benn there 3 times. And if you park Hoppin, Take shuttles, if no shuttles take the monorail.

Since you are not staying on site, check with your hotel for shuttles they have, or if none best way to get there.

If you plan to go to more than one part in a day make sure you get the right type of park pass.

Have fun!

I would say to rent a car. you don't say how many people are in your party, but if you start paying shuttle fare and taxi fare everywhere it will probably end up cheaper to rent a car.

PS . Have a great Vacation!!!!
