What can I connect it to??

One thing it will probably be used for is the upcoming DirecTV2Go service, where you'll be able to copy your recorded programs onto a portable media device by plugging into your DVR.

Of course, if the USB port is providing power now, you could potentially use it to charge your phone or iPod, if that's convenient for you.

Its coming in the future. They are USB ports that can accept wireless internet cards thereby allowing you to transfer your recorded shows to your computer. Other features are there as well but this is the biggest one. The only problem is they haven't been able to work out the contracts with the production companies on how much it would cost to transfer a recorded program to your computer so you could burn it to DVD.

If the manual doesn't say then its a service port for diagnostics.
Probably used to install new firnware into the DVR.

USB decives like Sony's DVDirect. It records shows you've recorded with your DVR to DVD.
