Avon has pretty much saturated the market. I can find about 50 rep's in my area, never have I seen a Mary Kay rep locally. Do some research and see what is being sold, to avoid competition, go with the other. Hope this helps! :)

I'm a Consultant with Mary Kay, and know a few people who used to sell Avon. I think Mary Kay is better because you start out making 50%. The former Avon reps that I know also said that MK seems like it's easier to sell.

You do NOT have to purchase huge amounts of inventory when you start. It does make it easier when dealing with your customers because they can get their product right away, and they are more likely to buy from you again.

I would have to say that Avon would be a better step to take, because they sell more products, than Mary Kay.

Mary Kay. You get a great commission (50% no matter how much or little you sell - with Avon you may get as little as 10%).

Plus, Mary Kay has been around for 43 years, and there are plenty of books out there who talk about how good the business plan is. Harvard even teaches it.

Plus you get craploads of training, the company itself helps you soooo much more than any other direct selling company. And it's good stuff, but cheaper than dept. store prices.

Avon has a ton more products, but I like Mary Kay products better. I also have noticed that MK seems to support and encourage their sales people better or at least more frequently.

Avon is now selling direct from their website.
I don't think the Consultants are really necessary
I would go with Mary Kay..you have more opportunities

Avon b/c more people know about it and it has been around longer. also its more affordable. I love Avon! And plus they have their "mark" line witch will appeal to the teens more then Mary-Kay would.

avon. with mary kay, you have to buy a certain amount of their products to have on hand, and if you dont sell it, you are stuck with it. with avon, you take the order, send in a form, collect the money when you deliver it, pay what you owe to avon, and the rest is yours. you dont have to buy any product to keep on hand other than samples.
