Tomatoes split because the weather is too dry and if you get a lot of rain suddenly, the plants uptake too much water and the fruit swells too fast, splitting them.

To much water at one time. Watering tomatoes should be done every other day, and water the same length of time, especially if it's been dry and hot.

your tomatoes will split if you only water them occasionally, we water ours 4 times a day if its very hot( but not to much)little and often, good luck
