My friend and I are having this really pathetic debate, and I want it settled once and for all.
She says that you pronouce it "WUH-kie"-- like you would pronouce the word 'cookie', but with a 'w'.
I say that it is pronouced "WOO-kie", like the sound 'boo', but like the sound 'whoo' with a 'key' sound at the end.
So, can any of you Star Wars fanatics set this straight for me?
Thanks, guys!

In basic (english) and spoken by humans its like cookie. But certain other languages and species pronounce it like boo. For example Jabba the hutt.

Wookies eat cookies...

That's it --
Listen to the movies-- you will hear it!

Gawd -- did I really just answer such a lame and obvious question? Am I talking to myself?

hmmmmm...

I just had to laugh because EVERYONE here has just spelt wookiee wrong. Wookiee has two e's at the end, not one.

Anyway, you say it like cookie. But if you think saying wookiee is tough, wait till you need to say stuff like Twi'lek or Mirialan. ;-)

Does it really matter? Everyone has different pronunciations of different words. Either way it's still a "Wookie"

I've always said and heard it pronounced like "cookie" so that'd be my guess.
